Narwhals – the unicorns of the sea. I wanted to capture the twisting swirling pattern of thenarwhal’s tusk by using paper with different colours on both sides; this also allowed me to replicate the Narwhal‘s lighter coloured under belly. Mounted on a chunk of deep blue glass, I wanted to portray the image of this magnificent animal of the frigid Arctic waters, surfacing between the sheets of ice to breathe. The model is made of one uncut square (50x50cm) of double layered (dark blue and teal) Unryushi paper; the finished model is 11cm tall and 30cm long.
