Origami owl

Owl

Owls have always intrigued me, the way these majestic looking creatures sit high in the trees, surveying their surroundings and scouting for their next prey. I wanted to capture a complicated chest pattern with the wings of the owl slightly folded over its body, just like an open jacket but yet create an imposing figure with a stern look sitting on the tree branch, overlooking its immediate vicinity. The model is made of one uncut square (41x41cm) of double layered (brown and beige) Unryushi paper; the finished model is 14cm tall.
