This is a story of a sorely misunderstood creature. I know of someone who owns a stuffed soft toy animal that she claims to be a pig although when I first saw it, I was under the impression that it was a wombat. It was then related to me with a certain level of exasperation that this was not the first case of mistaken identity and that since this poor creature was acquired, not a single person has managed to correctly discern its species of origin. It has been called a ‘possibly very obese baby deer or a rat’, and of course, recently a wombat, much to the owner’s dismay, but ‘definitely not even remotely a pig’. It is then that I decided to study it and make it into an origami animal, only to come to the conclusion that I still have no clue what this enigmatic creature is! To which the owner responded, ‘It’s a bloody pig for god’s sake!’. The model is made of one uncut square (40x40cm) of double layered (dark brown and brown) Unryushi paper; the finished model is 9cm tall.
